Clearly distinguish what is necessary to do the job from what is not. Eliminate the unnecessary.<\/li>\n<li><em>Set in order<\/em>. Put needed items in their correct place to allow for easy accessibility and retrieval.<\/li>\n<li><em>Shine<\/em>. Keep the workplace clean and clear of clutter. This promotes safety as well as efficiency.<\/li>\n<li><em>Standardized cleanup<\/em>. Develop an approach to maintaining a clean and orderly work environment that works.<\/li>\n<li><em>Sustain<\/em>. Make a habit of maintaining your workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"what is 5S in Lean?\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/do-not-do-5s-yet\/3399\/\">5S is foundational in Lean<\/a> because it allows us to visually see what is normal from abnormal.
