So let me teach you about how to make a really bad movie.<\/p>\n<p>In the beginning, our hero lives an ordinary life. We wouldn&#8217;t want to watch that for long but, unfortunately for us, we have no choice since this is a story about bad movies and bad resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>So, our hero continues on living an ordinary life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12841 aligncenter\" alt=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/1.png\" width=\"308\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/1.png 308w, https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/1-269x300.png 269w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And why is that so bad? Don&#8217;t most of us have ordinary lives?<\/p>\n<p>The answer is a resounding <strong>NO!\u00a0<\/strong>But, more on that later. Back to the bad movie.<\/p>\n<p>Ordinary is another word for <strong><em>no plot<\/em>. <em>No drama<\/em>. <em>No conflict<\/em>.<\/strong> AND&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>No Resolution.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You get it?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>The word\u00a0Resolution\u00a0is found within the context of a STORY.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2>So, what&#8217;s your story?<\/h2>\n<p>Bad movies have terrible plots or no plot at all. The hero winds his way through 2 hours of nothing. No beginning, no middle, and no end. Nothing to hook us in.<\/p>\n<p>Think of great movies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For Godfather, the conflict was within the family &#8211; living a good honorable life versus honoring the family.<\/li>\n<li>For Contact (a classic by the way), it was Jodi Foster and her dealing with the tension between science and religion.<\/li>\n<li>For Napoleon Dynamite, his story was the conflict of a nerd in Idaho and his love for a hot chick.<\/li>\n<li>For Nacho Libre, his story was a complex tension between his love for Lucha Libre and his equally strong love for God and being a man of the cloth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your story might be your desire to lose weight so you can look hot for your spouse and your equally strong love for Twinkies. For me, it&#8217;s my unnatural desire to drink soda and my daily stomach ache whenever I consume Mountain Dew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Great stories and Great Resolutions begin with Conflict.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now that&#8217;s out of the way, figure out what your conflict is and what&#8217;s the tension. Be really clear on the tension and make sure the &#8220;pull&#8221; is either polar and that the pull is coming from a place that has enough strength to pull either way &#8211; emotionally.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Bad movies Don&#8217;t Have Tension<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Think about it. Suppose your conflict is between losing weight and your desire to look great for your spouse. Most of us would agree that&#8217;s adequate tension with a strong pull either way &#8211; to lose weight for your spouse and to continue eating that really unhealthy but yummy fatty and salty and sugary foods. The pull is strong either way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bad movies have conflict but do nothing with it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Instead, they show the conflict, and then they complain on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That&#8217;s right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bad movies are like people that Resolve to lose weight, but do nothing and instead post their complaints on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12843\" alt=\"3\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/3.png\" width=\"276\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/3.png 276w, https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/3-271x300.png 271w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Why is that so bad, you ask.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Because it&#8217;s Tension Gone Unresolved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There&#8217;s that word again &#8211; resolve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To resolve tension &#8211; pressure must be released and can only be released from either side of the &#8220;Pull&#8221;. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s called tension. Posting on Facebook doesn&#8217;t resolve it.<\/p>\n<h2>You Are Not Ordinary<\/h2>\n<p>We are not ordinary. Think about it. Your life is actually full of drama and that&#8217;s a good thing.
