For continuous improvement, there are two types of Kata:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Coaching Kata<\/li>\n<li>Improvement Kata<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Coaching Kata has much to do with the Toyota A3 Problem Solving approach.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-7\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For this story, we&#8217;re going to look at Improvement Kata.<\/p>\n<p>For this, we need to understand Current Condition, identify Target Condition as first steps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-8\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In more detail, we need to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What is the current condition<\/li>\n<li>What is the target condition<\/li>\n<li>Then, apply PDCA to identify the root cause, countermeasures, and then adjust accordingly based on the results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-9\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here, we work as a team and better organize around PDCA. Currently, we need to understand the general direction, or the context of the problem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-10\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, with some data, quantify the problem and articulate the problem in words that someone unfamiliar with the problem space could understand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-11\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-11.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You might need to look at and synthesize or analyze data to understand the current condition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10520 aligncenter\" title=\"toyota-kata-12\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.opexlearning.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/toyota-kata-12.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Given the current state, what is the target condition?
